Moulding

Moulding – production of PTFE using sintering method.
Our Moulding department has been the centre of rotation for our entire production of PTFE compounds during the life of the company. (ACoflon is Acoplastic Ltd.’s own brand).

PTFE from our own Moulding division

We produce PTFE compounds for our own use as well as to sell as a semi-finished product. We buy our raw materials from the world’s most innovative suppliers and make sure they match specification requirements. In our own production we are able to refine the product at a much higher level.

Sintering – quality of the PTFE material

During pressing we constantly control the temperature of the material within the range of 22 °C to 28 °C. This is related to the structural side chain transition in PTFE, which occurs at 19 °C and again at 30 °C. A temperature change to a point outside this range during compression may, in some cases, even lead to cracks in the final sintered product.

Stocking of PTFE

Temperature during storage is less of an issue than during processing, but could lead to the formation of lumps in the powder, especially if it is excessive and accompanied by pressure.

It is also very important to store and open the material in a clean area as the powder can be highly electrically charged and will therefore easily attract dirt particles.

A temperature change during machining of the final sintered parts would most probably lead to incorrect dimensions due to thermal elongation.

High quality when handling the PTFE powder – an Acoplastic speciality.
